There are 12 members of the quilt appraisal team with many years of experience in patchwork and quilting. Many are award-winning quilters with national and international awards, authors, teachers, quilt show judges, professional long arm quilters and specialists in techniques ranging from traditional hand and machine patchwork and quilting to contemporary and art quilts.
Appraisers closely examine the quilt and discuss all areas of workmanship, construction and materials used. All discussions relating to the quilt are kept strictly confidential as is the determined replacement value.
The appraisal gives a reproducing for replacement value. Quilts are issued with a certificate giving a detailed description of the quilt, the quilt maker, name of quilt, year made, size, colour, fabrics used, batting used, awards won and the replacement value.
The Quilt Appraisal Sub-committee meet monthly.
The appraisers will also travel to your local group both suburban and country groups. For more information, contact the Appraisal Coordinator. The cost of each appraisal is $22.00 per quilt for QuiltNSW members and $33.00 per quilt for non-QuiltNSW members. An additional critique service is also available – this is $15.00 per quilt. The critique is a constructive document designed for quilt makers who wish to improve their skills. Bookings are essential.
