QUILTNSW RAFFLE QUILT MADE BY MEMBERS OF EASTWOOD PATCHWORK QUILTERS INC.
The quilt “Any Which Way” was based on The Modern Sampler by Megan Manwaring. Megan very generously donated the pattern for our use. The beautiful quilting was done by Kay Murray, the current President of EPQ Inc.
Fabric was purchased at Thorpe & Co, Boolaroo and block instructions and fabrics were distributed to members at our annual Retreat. Many blocks were made over the retreat, and others were taken home to finish. A dedicated team of members oversaw the construction of the blocks (and made many themselves).
The improv design and varying sizes of the blocks gave us room to experiment with the placement of the blocks; we tried several different layouts until we were satisfied with the result.
It was an enjoyable journey working with many different colours, blocks and fabrics (sometimes out of our comfort zones). We are very pleased with the result and hope it is a successful Raffle Quilt.
Eastwood Patchwork Quilters Inc. was formed in 1986 following on from a Patchwork class at Eastwood. The attendees of the class were keen to continue meeting and the group has grown and flourished since that time. We currently meet at West Ryde Anglican Church over three sessions each week – Tuesday morning, Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and warmly welcome new members.
The group has a biennial exhibition, with two Raffle Quilts being made to support charities. Our next exhibition will be held at Roselea Community Centre, Beecroft, from Friday, 17 July to Sunday, 19 July 2026.
